High Energy Physics

The BaBar detector was built at SLAC to study the millions of B mesons produced by the PEP-II (http://www.slac.stanford.edu/exp/babar/).

The BaBar detector consists of a silicon vertex detector, a drift chamber, a particle identification system, a CsI electromagnetic calorimeter, and a magnet with an instrumented flux return.

Our Mission:

To develop uniform scintillarors and supply SLAC with high perform CsI(Tl) detectors.

There are 6580 pcs of 300 mm length CsI(Tl) scintillators (total volume of crystals is 5.9 m3).

Special technology improvement  was done to specify light output uniformity through the crystal ±3%.
